We just got back from a 9 day cruise to the Caribbean. We left out of Bayonne, NJ so we didn't have to fly and we took Adam with us. It was a very relaxing time and it was great to have Adam with his. We didn't really miss a beat, we went to the main dinner that we usually go to and went to all of the shows as well, having him with us was really no different than going by ourselves. If we had Van with us though,, that would have been a different story, as much as I love him and did miss him, it wouldn't have been the same experience at all.
It was different cruising down as opposed to flying. When we fly down, we hit the warm weather right away. This time we didn't hit warm weather until the third day and then had 2 days of cold weather on the way home as well. There was a lot to do on the ship though, we played mini-golf and went ice skating and went in the hot tubs as well.
They have this kids program on the ship and it looked really really cool. It is sponsored by Crayola and there were a lot of different things to do every day. Call us crazy, but we weren't about to leave our three year old with a bunch of strangers that we would never see again, whether they 'had college degrees in Political Science' or whatever you want to say, we weren't risking it. So I go to sign him up and tell the lady, I want to stay with him when he does the activity or whatever is planned for that hour (even though the program went all day) and she said, oh, this is a drop off program, you can't do that. But you can stay with him for a few minutes until he feels comfortable though. But of course I didn't, that wasn't the issue. If someone came to the house right now to take him, he would go, he would have no problem staying there, it was the issue we had with him leaving him. So he hung out with us the entire time, and he was happy with that anyway, he didn't know what he was missing.
We went to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic and Haiti. Each island was more beautiful than the next honestly. We went to the beach at each of the islands except Puerto Rico because we were really only there for the evening. The beaches were beautiful and it was hard to remember it was December. At Haiti, Royal Caribbean owns like a beach or something, so we got off the island and it was only our people from our boat, lunch was set out for us, and they had a little water park you can see me and Adam standing at. That was our favorite island, it was so nice that they did that.
Unfortunately there were a LOT of sick people on the boat. On the third day, Adam got a stomach virus with both ends of his body not functioning. It said in the book, if you have GI issues and don't notify the med department you can get kicked off the boat or something. So we thought, we better tell them, they made us bring him down to the office and then made us give him a shot so he would stop throwing up! We wouldn't normally do that, but it did work. His stomach still wasn't right for a few days but at least he wasn't throwing up. I ended up getting it on the last day of the trip and still have it a little bit, just not the throwing up part. But I guess it is a virus and just has to run it's course.
We did have a good time though and couldn't believe all the snow when we came home! We ate and relaxed a lot and now are ready for Christmas!!

Welcome home, my friend! It looks like you guys had an awesome time. I really like that first picture! (And all the others...)
Sounds like you were really prepared for Christmas before you left. I thought that I was doing really well, but it has like come off the rails this past week. I think it's Ben's birthday, all of a sudden I am slammed with both things and don't know where to turn!
Merry Christmas!
